He made it!
Here's the important stuff. Finley David Scott showed up today and he weighs 8 lbs 9 oz and is 21 inches long. And he is so cute. I was induced this morning at 6 am and by 12:17 he was here! The labor went way faster than expected, which caused the epidural not to work, which in turn made the painful part even quicker. So that was good. It was not near as bad as it could have been and we couldn't be more in love with him. He's adorable.
We are asking for prayers for his little foot. At our 20 week ultrasound, the tech couldn't see his feet and we went back 2 more times to get them checked out and never really saw anything. They reassured us that he had feet, they just couldn't check the angles of them because he was so cramped in there... and also then the building lost power. We decided we were ok not having total confirmation on the feet. So, he does have two very cute feet, but one of them is turned in enough that he needs medical intervention to correct it. We are meeting with an orthopedic specialist tomorrow who will fill us in more. But please pray that we find an excellent course of treatment that leaves him able to run marathons. We feel so bad for the little guy, but he's just so cute, and really, he is perfect just the way he has been created. We are taking comfort and finding great joy in the promises of Psalms 139:
"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."
The Lord created Finley perfectly and we are pretty much obsessed with him. Sol likes him because he's really tough. I like him because sometimes he sneezes and sometimes he holds his hands by his face. It's precious.
Cutie Finley. Love him. When you texted me this morning, I thought you said you were loving the epidural?! I'll need to know more about this later when you actually have time and want to talk. Definitely praying for the little guy's feet. Praise Jesus that Psalm 139 is truth!
ReplyDeleteHe's wonderful. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of you two, and Finley for pushing his way out!
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy for the three of you - you both look so happy! We are going to enjoy seeing him grow up through your blog.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to stare at him!! Rachel, you are a rockstar!! I can't even imagine the crazy week you have had. Finley has a very special mommy and daddy!
ReplyDeleteWe, too, are so excited for you all! We can't wait to find a moment to meet the little guy and give you guys a big hug. We said prayers for your family last night at small group...you are still with us in spirit, you know... Quick note on the little footsie of your little guy. That was me, 30+ ish years ago, I had a similar challenge. I didn't have to have surgery, and I don't know what it was technically called, but I do know that I wore the bar between my baby shoes for a good chunk of time, and all turned out great. Five marathons and lots of high heels later, you'd never know it. Now, I know that Finley may not be up for high heels, or even marathons - but perhaps this little example encourages you that if he wants to do either, he just may able to. We'll keep praying and know you are loved! Stephen & Sherri
ReplyDeleteFinley is definitely an obsession and he is definitely the cutest. What a beautiful little man. Love you all.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I hope you all are getting lots of sleep.
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel. I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my second boy, who has been diagnosed with a left clubbed foot like your precious Finley. I adore the leg warmers you put over his casts. I am very interested in learning where you purchased those. Our little guy is due in March, and we would love to keep him from scratching himself with it during the summer. Thank you for writing your blogs and providing inspiration for my husband and me!
ReplyDeleteHey Katie! I'm not sure if you'll check back for this, but they are called Baby Legs from Bum Genius. Let me know if you have other questions! rachel.annette@gmail.com
